CUT NYAK DHIEN
Cut  NyakDhien  was  born  into  an  Islamic  aristocratic  family  in  Aceh  Besar  in  VI  mukim
district  in  1848.  Her  father,  TeukuNantaSetia,  was  a  member  of  the  ruling  UlèëBalang
aristocratic class in VI mukim, and her mother was also from an aristocrat family. She was
educated in religion and household matters. She was renowned for her beauty, and many men
proposed to her until her parents arranged for her marriage to TeukuCek Ibrahim Lamnga, the
son of aristocrat family, when she was twelve.
On 26 March 1873, Dutch declared war on Aceh. During the first part of this war, the
First Aceh Expedition, Aceh was led by PanglimaPolem and Sultan Alauddin Mahmud Syah
II.  The  Dutch  army  sent  3,000  soldiers  led  by  Johan  Harmen  Rudolf  Köhler  to  take  the
Sultan's  palace.  The  Sultan,  however,  received  military  aid  from  Italy  and  the  United
Kingdom, and the Aceh army was rapidly modernized and enlarged from 10,000 to 100,000
soldiers. Dutch forces were successfully pushed back, and Köhler died in action.
In November 1873, during the Second Aceh Expedition the Dutch successfully captured
VI mukim in 1873, followed by the Sultan's Palace in 1874. In 1875, Cut NyakDhien and her
baby, along with other mothers, were evacuated to a safer location while her husband Ibrahim
Lamnga fought to reclaim VI mukim. Teuku Ibrahim Lamnga died in action in GleTarum on
June 29, 1878. Hearing of this, Cut NyakDhien was enraged and swore to destroy the Dutch.
Some time after the death of her husband, an Acehnese hero Teuku Umar proposed to
her. Although she rejected him at first, she accepted his proposal when Umar allowed her to
fight, and they were married in 1880. This greatly boosted the morale of Aceh armies in their
fight  against  the  KaphéBlanda,  or  Dutch  infidel.  Teuku  Umar  and  Cut  NyakDhien  had  a
daughter together named Cut Gambang. Dhien was very determined to stay in the war that so
took her daughter in with her.

Yogyakarta is one of the foremost cultural centers of Java, the seat of the mighty Javanese empire of
Mataram from which present day Yogyakarta has the best inherited of traditions. The city itself has a
special  charm,  which  seldom  fails  to  captivate  the  visitor.  Gamelan,  classical  and  contemporary
Javanese dances, leather puppet, theater and other expressions of traditional art will keep the visitor
spellbound. Local craftsmen excel in arts such batiks, silver and leather works. Next to the traditional,
contemporary art has found fertile soil in Yogya's culture oriented society.
Yogyakarta is often called the main gateway to the Central Java as where it is geographically
located. It stretches from Mount Merapi to the Indian Ocean. There is daily air service to Yogya from
Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali as well as regular train service and easy accessibility by road. Yogyakarta
is commonly considered as the modern cultural of Central Java. It is a very lively city and a shopper's
delight.  The  main  road,  Malioboro  Street,  is  always  crowded  and  famous  for  its  night  street  food-
culture and street vendors. Many tourist shops and cheap hotels are concentrated along this street or in
the adjoining tourist area such Sosrowijayan Street.
The  key  attraction  of  Yogyakarta  is  'Kraton'  (the  Sultan's  Palace),  the  centre  of  Yogya's
traditional life and despite the advance of modernity; it still emanates the spirit of refinement, which
has been the hallmark of Yogya's art for centuries. This vast complex of decaying buildings was built
in the 18th century, and is actually a walled city within the city with luxurious pavilions and in which
the  current  Sultan  still  resides.  Yogyakarta  is  also  the  only  major  city,  which  still  has  traditional
'Becak' (rickshaw-style) transport.

After fake vaccines, the alleged use of expired food ingredients and now expired medicines, what else will happen? Over
the last month, consumers have had to face the risk of falling victim to dirty business practices that could harm their
health or even endanger their life.
And one may ask, where is the state? According to the preamble of the Constitution, the state is responsible for
protecting its citizens. This may be merely a rhetorical question because it is impossible to expect the state, through its
various agencies, to guard every citizen 24 hours a day.
But as seen by the recurrent blame games and denials made by government and state agencies responsible for
s interest in preventing
more people from becoming victims.
The police are now examining samples of ingredients used by two popular restaurant chains in Jakarta, which had
already  passed  their  shelf-life  date.  It  will  take  the  police  quite  some  time  to  finally  act  against  the  owners  of  the
restaurant chains and for the courts to determine their fate.
Last month, the police arrested a number of people, including doctors, after the discovery of the distribution and
use of bogus vaccines for children in Jakarta, West Java and Banten. The Health Ministry recorded that 1,500 children
had been exposed to the fake vaccines from 2014 onward and ordered free revaccinations for them.
Indonesia does not fall short in legislation to protect consumers. The only problem is how the laws, ranging from
the Consumer Protection Law to the Criminal Code, and their operational regulations, are enforced.
Rarely is the law  strictly enforced in the form of  maximum punishments. We have never heard of a company
having its license revoked or its owners imprisoned for lengthy periods of time  for cheating their consumers. Rather,
because  the  Consumer  Protection  Law  does  not  mean  to  kill  business,  it  is  more  likely  a  company  will  be  given  an
opportunity to renew its permits despite having a stained track record.
Consumers  in  general  cannot  afford  to  fight  the  financial  might  of  producers,  which  is  why  the  state  has  to
support the weak to ensure fairness. Educating consumers of their rights is the least the state could do.

Mongoose is common name for several small carnivores found in Africa and Asia. They are
generally terrestrial mammals, but some are semi-aquatic, and others are at home in the
treetops.
The head and body of a typical mongoose are a total of 23 to 65 cm (9 to 26 in) long and
grayish  or  brownish  in  color.  The  animal  has  a  tapered  head,  long  tail,  and  short  feet.
Mongooses live about 7 to 12 years in the wild, but in captivity they may live to more than 20
years. They have one to four young in each litter. They subsist on rodents and snakes and are
renowned for attacking even the largest and most poisonous snakes to whose poison they are
not immune by an agile avoidance of their strikes. Mongooses have been introduced to many
areas of the world in order to control rodents and snakes, but importation of mongooses into
the United States is prohibited because they also destroy many useful animals.
A  common  species  of  mongoose  inhabits  India.  The  common  Egyptian  species,  the
ichneumon, was worshiped by the ancient Egyptians. A related animal, the suricate, or slender-
tailed meerkat, of southern Africa, is easy to tame.
Scientific  classification:  Mongooses  belong  to  the  family  Herpestidae.  The  Indian
species  is  classified  as  Herpestesedwardsi,  the  ichneumon  as  Herpestes  ichneumon,  and  the
suricate as Suricatasuricatta.
